Certificates of Appreciation and Recognition from 2009 for the Young Men and Women of the “Volunteering and Giving Camp” Organized by the Popular Committee for Jisr az-Zarqa
It was an exceptional camp, bringing together more than 400 young men and women volunteers from Jisr az-Zarqa, as well as from Arab towns in the Triangle, Wadi Ara, and neighboring communities.
Together, we spent days cleaning and restoring public spaces, painting murals and walls, and organizing educational and recreational activities for children. The camp concluded with a cultural festival and a dinner bringing together the volunteers and local residents.
What made it even more special was that all of this was accomplished without any support from funds or institutions, and without the spotlight of celebrity or publicity. It was made possible through donations from generous community members, the efforts of young volunteers, and the spirit of giving and belonging that filled Jisr az-Zarqa.
These certificates remained preserved in the committee’s files for more than 15 years without reaching their recipients. At the time, they were secondary-school students; today, they are in their thirties, with some holding administrative and educational positions and contributing to the service of our community.
It is a beautiful moment from the memory of Jisr az-Zarqa…
A reminder that volunteering and humanitarian work are a light in themselves; they speak quietly and need neither noise nor the spotlight.
