As part of its mission to preserve collective memory and safeguard the historical narrative of the people of Jisr al-Zarqa, Aljisrawi Heritage Center is participating in an initiative aimed at examining and following up on the legal and historical status of private and public lands belonging to the village’s residents that are now located within the jurisdiction of Ma’agan Michael Kibbutz, following their confiscation during the Nakba and in the 1950s.
The center’s involvement stems from its belief that documenting history, preserving oral testimony, and collecting maps, documents, and testimonies are essential tools in the pursuit of historical rights and in strengthening collective awareness of the relationship between people, their land, their surroundings, and their memory.
Alongside the local council, residents, landowners, and specialized lawyers, the center will contribute to documenting the historical records and heritage associated with these lands, helping to preserve collective memory and safeguard future generations’ right to know their history and their true story.
